Let me make sure I understand this correctly. The NYT sat on the the NSA wiretapping story for over a year, not because they doubt the solidity of the story, but because they thought that releasing the story right before the election would make them look bad?

In short: Swift Boat Veterans for Truth = News, but unconstitutional, illegal wiretapping = Not. Heaven forfend that an injection of truthfulness might influence a US election!
